Thursday (27/5/2010)
After 2 days of working on the drawing, i've finally finished the drawing. Not exactly finished, but manage to draw the diagram according to what i know and learned. Showed it to my supervisor and he said that there are many more blocks to add till its perfect. Here is the diagram, it may look simple but it took a long time to explain and to find out.

Wednesday (26/5/2010)
I continued drawing my block diagram of the compressor and turbine. Fortunately, a senior process engineer helped me out in explaining and pointing out where the blocks should be and should be connected. After that, it was a little easier to draw with the help of the Caterpillar gas turbine booklet. Here is the sketch of the diagram:

Tuesday (25/5/2010)
Today, the clients from Shell Sarawak came in. This means my supervisor was busy attending to them. I just continues learning and reading about turbine and compressors. I tried drawing out the connection but it would't make sense. Later in the evening, my supervisor handed me a handbook from Caterpillar about gas turbines.

Monday (24/5/2010)
Finally, i'm done with my presentation. I handed it over to my supervisor and he said it was ok but there is still room to improve. Later, i was given a task to draw a block diagram of a turbine and compressor. Here are some pictures of the slides:

Friday (21/5/2010)
I continued with my assignment which is about 70% completed. I just need to draw single line diagrams on the process controls. Then later I refined the oil platform processes, control systems and also lubrication.

Thursday (20/5/2010)
Today, my supervisor was busy with his clients from Shell Sarawak. The submission date for the reports are today. He was also attending meetings after meetings with his co-workers and clients. I tried to complete my slides as there were much more to go. Pictures and words.

Wednesday (19/5/2010)
Today i felt lucky. An operation engineer from Shell was able to take 30 minutes out of busy schedule and gave me a talk about oil platforms and its processes involve when natural gas is extracted and send to the process plant. There were turbines and compressors involved, pipes and their beginning and ending destination and also seal-gas system for lubrication.

Tuesday (18/5/2010)
As usual, my supervisor is busy like any other day. I was left alone to complete my assignment.

Monday (17/5/2010)
I helped my supervisor to edit a new report. While doing that, i was able to see the format of composing a formal report. Once that is done, I continued with my presentation slides which were my assignment.

Friday (14/5/2010)
I was just going through what the control analysist taught us about compressor control. It was quite hard to understand it at first but after checking textbooks and internet webpages, i was able to get the basic view about the controls.

Thursday (13/5/2010)
Today, one of the top control analysist took about 30 minutes of her busy working hours just to enlighten me about the control system connected to a compressor. She even drew diagrams and taught us about surge and how to stop them from happening. It was quite confusing as there were too many measurement device needed to curb surging from happening. Fortunately, she put it in layman terms and i manage to get the basic view about it.

Wednesday (12/5/2010)
I showed my presentation to a senior electrical engineer and he went through it. A few minutes after that, he asked me to follow him for a presentation by the electrical discipline. The presentation was about Electrical Load List software that will be running in the new future. This sofware is used to gather all data about the electrical equipment and devices. Currently, they are manually tabulating the list using Microsoft Excel. After gathering the data, they can finally come up with a single line drawing.

Tuesday (11/5/2010)
As i reached my desk, i was asked to go to the meeting room. There was a meeting between the company and a contractor. This contractor will scan the platform and converts the images into AutoCad 2010. This scanning exercise covers all viewable parts of the platform and later collected and forms a 3D view of the platform.

Monday (10/5/2010)
Supervisor gave some of his old notes to redefine my presentation. The notes were mainly about compressors, types, and its calculations. I was given a few tips and a helping hand on how to put them into the presentation slides. I hope that helps.

Friday (7/5/2010)
Supervisor helped to improve the slides. After that i started on my research about the compressor controls and its functions. I used textbooks and internet as my guideline.

Thursday (6/5/2010)
After writing down all my main points on my scribbling book, i transfered them into Microsoft Powerpoint as my supervisor wants it in presentation format. After doing that, my supervisor checked on it and there was some remarks here and there but other than that it was a good progress.

Wednesday (5/5/2010)
My supervisor was busy today because the deadline for his project report is closing in. That's is why i continued with my assignment. I manage to find about the equipments needed in a compressor, the basic characteristics and surge in a compressor, and also the lubrication system needed to run the compressor smoothly.

Tuesday (4/5/2010)
Today will be the day i start on the assignment. I manage to get some thick textbooks about compressors from my supervisors and started processing them. I manage to find out the definition of a compressor, how it perform basically and also the many types of compressor. Looks like i'm going to have a big problem with the control systems for the surge control and others because it is a little bit complicated with many instrument to be taken into account.

Monday (3/4/2010)
First day of the week and i received my assignment from my supervisor. The assignment is to produce a presentation or training manual type booklet of a compressor. He included that this is a part of my internship evaluation. I was given more notes and pictures about compressors.

Friday (30/4/2010)
Fortunately it is a holiday for us to compensate for the labour day on saturday. Time to get some rest and well deserve sleep

Thursday (29/4/2010)
I attended a meeting together with my supervisor. The meeting's objective is to advice each discipline on how to write the change of design as a report. This is because there has been changes in the oil platform by their client, SHELL which is my supervisor's project. I manage to see how the report should be written, its procedures and also format.
